Thai Tea Pudding

Rice flour is made from quality Thai rice, milled through the process of wet or dry milling, giving fine white powder packed with aromatic fragrance. Rice flour forms firm gel after heating and has a crumbly and slightly hard texture. This is suitable for many Thai desserts such as Thai pudding (Khanom Krok), Thai layered cake (Khanom Chun), palm cake, Thai coconut rolls (Tong muan) and more. Additionally, rice flour is an important ingredient in noodles and dim sum dishes. Lastly, the high amylose content in rice flour helps improve crispiness of fried foods.

Thai tea pudding, known as “Kanom Piak Poon”, is a traditional Thai dessert made from rice flour, served with coconut milk. It is mildly sweet with soft and mellow texture. Traditionally, “Kanom Piak Poon” has a black color from charred coconut husk powder which gives a unique smoky fragrance. Today, this dessert has been adapted by adding pandan water instead of the charred coconut husk for a green color with refreshing aroma. Golden Coins Brand would like to introduce a twist on this traditional dessert with “Thai Tea Pudding” which uses Thai tea to add the orange color and the unique taste of Thai tea.
